Individuals often come to therapy because they don’t want to be a burden on other people. While it is helpful having friends or family to speak to about what’s going on in their life, sometimes there’s a fear of putting too much on others, which creates this need to speak about life’s difficulties to someone else. I believe therapists are the perfect “someone else” to talk to. As your therapist, I will give you the space to voice whatever is weighing you down, without the fear of being a burden.Being born and raised in New York, I have seen people from all walks of life. I have previously worked in both New York state and city as a peer counselor, crisis counselor, and graduate student therapist. During this time, I have treated individuals who have anxiety, depression, OCD, adjustment difficulties, disclosure of sexual orientation difficulties, and relationship difficulties, among other challenges. Working and learning in New York has given me the opportunity to work with a plethora of people from different races, ethnicities, religions, and sexual orientations.

My therapy style is based mostly in humanistic approaches, integrated with psychodynamic forms of treatment, meaning I focus on who you are today while tracing how your earlier experiences still shape it, so that over time I can pinpoint patterns that a client is displaying in their life. This pattern recognition is where the change really happens, where the client will notice their own patterns and break the loop of dysfunction. While humanistic and psychodynamic are my go-to forms of therapy, I also incorporate aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy into my sessions.Going through the therapy process will not be easy, but through our work together you will find long-lasting change and insights into your daily functioning. If you decide to use me as your therapist, you will not have to ever worry about being a burden.
