I grew up in an immigrant Caribbean family, learning firsthand how challenging it can be to build a new life while holding onto cultural traditions. Caribbean culture is close and lively, but the focus on respect and unity can sometimes make it hard to express yourself. Adjusting to a new country changes family roles, brings its own grief, and adds pressure to succeed, often without a safe place to talk about what’s hard.My background taught me how important it is for everyone to have someone to talk to, and that’s what inspired me to become a therapist. I especially want to help people who feel torn between different parts of themselves, like balancing family traditions with their own independence, finding the courage to express emotions that were once kept quiet, or making sense of family patterns passed down over time. My mission is to help people work through trauma, heal from old wounds, and navigate complex family relationships.
My goal is to help you see how your culture and family have shaped your thinking, feelings, and relationships with others. In our sessions, I use practical tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help with stress and anxiety, while making sure there’s always room for open, judgment-free conversations about identity, boundaries, and understanding yourself. I earned a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, and I strive to meet clients where they are while supporting their journey toward healing, resilience, and authentic growth.
