Essence Blake
Tori Amos once said, “Healing takes courage and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it.” That belief is at the heart of my work as a therapist. I believe that every person holds an inherent strength and resilience, even in moments when it feels absent. My goal is to help you uncover and harness your inner courage to begin your healing journey. The road won’t always be easy, and at times it may feel uncomfortable, but together we can make it meaningful and impactful.

In our sessions, you do not have to hold it all together. I offer a safe, compassionate, and judgment-free space where you can show up as yourself and explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences fully. You may be carrying a lot on your own, feeling unheard, overwhelmed by anxiety or depression, or stuck in patterns you are ready to change, and together we can work toward clarity, healing, and growth. I use an integrative approach drawing from psychodynamic, person-centered, CBT, and culturally responsive practices to help clients deepen self-awareness, navigate relationships, process trauma, and work through challenges such as identity exploration, family conflict, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you, it’s about creating space for the version of you that has been silenced or pushed aside, and nurturing it toward growth.

As a first-generation college graduate, I am proud to have earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Howard University and my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Brooklyn College. I look forward to walking alongside you as you pursue healing, self-understanding, and a more authentic life.
