Emily Malefyt
I see therapy as a place where meaningful growth often comes from exploring new perspectives, building insight, and developing practical ways to navigate life’s challenges.I approach therapy with curiosity, attentiveness, and genuine care, recognizing that each person’s experiences, relationships, and goals are unique. As a clinician, I strive to balance empathy with authenticity while fostering a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, reflection, and collaboration to support meaningful personal growth. I draw from psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed approaches to help clients better understand patterns in their emotions, thoughts, and relationships.

I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, relationship concerns, emotional challenges, identity development, life transitions, and trauma-related experiences. My clinical experience includes work in community mental health settings supporting individuals facing complex emotional, interpersonal, and environmental stressors. My experiences spanning both American and Spanish cultures have deepened my appreciation for the ways culture, family, identity, and belonging can influence mental health, relationships, and personal growth.I believe therapy offers a space for self-exploration, healing, and change. Together, we can work toward greater understanding, resilience, and fulfillment while navigating the challenges that arise along the way.
