Vanessa uses an integrative approach that is designed around your needs and goals. She believes in the importance of creating an environment that is free of judgement and where you can feel accepted in your entirety. She emphasizes an approach of curiosity as you get to know yourself more deeply, explore difficult questions, let unconscious beliefs and patterns surface and be challenged, create your own emotional tool kit, and enable change to materialize a life you love, are thriving in and want to share with others.
Vanessa’s counseling philosophy is drawn from the interconnected nature of our world. The pillars of well-being and mental health are multiple, personal, interrelated, and always in flux. Collaboratively defining them is a step in the journey of healing.
Her foundation includes psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, transpersonal therapy, spiritual counseling, emotional intelligence skills, inner-child work, guided visualization, breath work & mindfulness. She has experience with and special interest in chronic illness and pain, the gut-brain connection, the mind-body (dis)connection and development of self-compassion & assertiveness.
Vanessa has a BBA in Strategic Design & Management from Parsons, is a certified health coach from the Integrative Institute of Nutrition, and is a master’s candidate at NYU in the Mental Health and Wellness Counseling program and the Spiritual Counseling program at One Spirit, graduating from both in June of 2020.
