Raina views therapy as an act of courage, and as an opportunity for personal growth and healing. She meets you where you are, and helps you close the gap between where you want to be in a non-judgmental setting. She works collaboratively with her clients with an emphatic presence to uncover their personal story by deepening insight into peculiar and idiosyncratic patterns of thinking and behaving we all have, and scaffold their journey with healthy coping mechanisms. Raina works with her clients to bring their body as well as their mind into the room in order to provide a greater sense of agency and autonomy. Guided by cultural perspective, Raina works to address emotional challenges around identity, relationships, life transitions, trauma, grief and loss. She has a special interest in working with women who want to build their self-esteem and address concerns around self-care, self-compassion, and intersection of gender, racial and cultural identities.
Raina has an integrative approach and draws from on an eclectic blend of multiple approaches to psychotherapy; including CBT, Gestalt, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Psychodynamic techniques to understand and address the unique needs of each client. Through a development of a strong and supportive therapeutic relationship, she aims to alleviate suffering and deconstruct obstacles that keep her clients from reaching their highest potential.
Raina earned her B.A in Psychology from Sarah Lawrence College, and holds a M.A in Psychological Counseling as well as Ed.M in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has experience working with demographically diverse clients who range in age and presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, self-defeating patterns and trauma.
Raina is fluent in Hindi, and Urdu and has a strong working knowledge of Punjabi.
