Matthew Danis, LMSW

The exploration of self is a life-long journey, where for many it may have included moments that cause pain along with defenses that cause discomfort or challenges with emotional self-regulation.

Together we will take an approach that is holistic, taking the entire person, system of relationships, and environment into account. Using the therapeutic relationship as a model and vehicle for progress, therapy with me seeks to increase your awareness of behavioral patterns that may be ingrained or dynamics from prior relationships that maybe inhibit personal growth. Therapy with me is collaborative, non-judgmental, and will draw from various approaches and techniques including: cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and relational therapy with emphasis on Psychodynamic and interpersonal approaches.

I focus on integrating the various aspects of personal identity and improving insights to help clients lead a more authentic and fulfilled life. The variety of techniques provides the client with a highly personalized therapeutic experience.

I received my Masters in Social Work from New York University with work specializing in: LGBTQ, Young Adults, Families, Couples, and Adolescents. My undergraduate degree specialized in studies that highlighted societal impacts of media on human behavior such as social media, video, and print. Coupled with my MSW degree I have a business background and MBA which provides better insight of workplace cultures that impact the mental health of individuals for those with challenges in the work place.
